Present: Caryn Goulet, Mike D’Ambrosio, Joe Haddad, Chuck Otis, Eric Fortier, Jon Snider, Ed Riekstins, Stan Souza, Chris Alberti, John Fitzler, Ray Masiello and Tom Watson, Jamie Ward, Chris Bell

Meeting called to order 6:01 by President Ed Riekstins
 
Secretary: Fortier
  • Motion by Snider 2nd by Alberti to accept March 28 BOD minutes.  Vote passed 9-0-1
Email votes presented:
  • Email vote April 7 – Motion by Ward 2nd by Fruciano to allow Coast to Coast Concession, LLC to provide onsite concessions to Whitefield on Saturdays/Sundays for games during the Spring 2010 season.  They will provide 30% of sales to WYSA.  Vote passed 9-3-0
  • Email vote April 21 – Motion by Goulet 2nd by Souza to send an arrangement not to exceed $75 to the Nichols Funeral Home in remembrance of Ellen Martin from WYSA. Vote passed 13-0-0
  • Calendar discussion
 
 
Treasurer/Registrar: Otis
  • Travel registration 772, up 7%, Intown registration 549, overall up 4% from last year
  • Motion by Maseillo 2nd by Snider to accept the March and April treasurer report.  Vote passed – 10-0-2
 
President: Riekstins
  • Discussion of team photos, they have begun (May 1st)
  • Still working on next newsletter
  • Looking into new pads for the defibrillator at the field house
 
Travel: Snider
  • Travel coach applications have been received
  • Travel subcommittee is preparing for player evaluations
  • MYSL – May 12 AGM, rosters frozen May 4th
 
Player/Coach Development: Haddad
  • April camp had 42 kids, low number due to kinders
  • Discussion of Challenger training
  • World Cup update – doing very well, 50%-60% average attendance.  Coach attendance – worst 1 coach per 8 kids, best 1 coach per 3 kids
  • Practice sessions are going well
  • Discussion of town tournament
  • PCD committee – surveyed and compared other town training programs – focus on younger age group coaches, academy style program for co-ed teams, our kinder program rated positive

Intown: Watson
  • Intown doing well
  • Discussion of incident with first grade boys teams – Fruciano will follow up
  • Kinders – need to remind coaches primary responsibility is to keep ball in play not coach during game.  Look at kinder nets
  • Discussion of registration statistics of recent history
  • Items to consider – pre-kinder program
 
D’Ambrosio arrives – 6:46
 
Merchandise: Masiello
  • Followed up with kinder ball vender – short supply and some in poor quality.
  • Every kinder did receive a ball and uniform
 
Fields and Buildings: D’Ambrosio
  • Whitfield needs to expand one field is too small for U12 requirements.  Will follow up with alternative field plans with town.
  • John Donahue will be putting up Paquin’s state champs plaque on field house
  • 24 makeup games
 
Travel Refs: Goulet
  • No issues, one no show
  • Mentor program underway
 
TOPS: Goulet
  • Registration for TOPS Jamboree is open
  • Will have Sportography for photos
 
Intown Refs/Revs: Alberti
  • Refs doing well
  • Sold 190 out if 200 raffle tickets for Revs
  • Trying to organize a Wilmington group night for a Revs game
 
Website committee: Alberti/Fortier
  • Update of website was give, please provide pertinent information to Fortier for new website
  • Timeline for new website launch is around June 1st
 
Concession: Souza/Ward
  • Volunteers are very low.  Volunteer numbers have steadily decline over the past 5 to 6 years
  • Reached out to other towns for their suggestions
  • Discussion to reach out to coaches for more help with recruiting volunteers
  • Future consideration for intown kids to practice at Shawsheen to increase Snack Shack revenue
 
Scholarship/Golf: Otis/Bell
  • Applications are being received
  • Received first sponsor check for Golf Tournament
  • Will send an email to membership and have flyers and postings at the field
 
New Business
  • Discussion concerning fundraising and volunteerism
  • Build a committee to evaluate what we may need to improve – BOD members to help facilitate (Fitzler, Alberti, Goulet)
  • Discussion for table at Shawsheen for Strings and Relay for Life
  • Motion by D’Ambrosio 2nd by Fortier to allow Relay for life information table on May 22 at Shawsheen field. Vote passed 14-0-0
  • Motion by Maiello 2nd by Snider to allow table for schools Strings program on May 8.  Vote passed 14-0-0
  • Motion by Haddad 2nd by Snider to sponsor green/tee for $100 for the Wilmington School Business and Community Program Golf Tournament.  Vote passed 13-1-0
  • Discussion of Travel subcommittee selection process
  • Discussion of email votes – once again try to use 24 hour discussion and send votes directly to Secretary and/or President
  • Motion by Haddad 2nd by Ward to accept March 28 executive minutes.  Vote passed 112-0-1
  • MYSL AGM attendance (potential Goulet, Riekstins, Snider, Fitzler) – will potentially discuss expanding high school aged rosters from 18 to 22
  • Intown coaches should be wearing coaching shirts
  • Discussion of High School summer programs – Girls training for Sun and Mon night, Wed, Thurs and Fri morning.  Run applications for coaching positions for the girls summer training
 
Watson leave – 8:20
 
  • Motion by D’Ambrosio 2nd by Goulet for the girl’s high school summer conditioning program for 5 days a week (Sun and Mon night, Wed, Thurs and Fri morning), starting June 22 to rune 8 weeks with the 4ht of July week off.  WYSA will support the posting and registration.
  • Motion amended by Goulet 2nd by Otis to change start date to July 5th to run 6.5 weeks.  Vote passed 9-3-1
  • Motion by D’Ambrosio 2nd by Haddad to support Girls/Boys summer league (7weeks).  Vote passed 13-0-0
  • Discussion of backyard soccer
 
Motion by Otis 2nd by Haddad to adjourn.  Vote passed 13-0-0
